Federal Government Research Organ. Analyzed the effect of hydrostatic pressure on flexible tubes in an analogy to human blood vessels.




LABORATORY SKILLS

Performed harvest of murine bone marrow-derived macrophages from femurs of adult BALB/c mice in culture medium.

Performed cytotoxicity assays utilizing Vero (African Green Monkey Kidney) cells. (The assay involved the use of Non-radioactive Cell Proliferation Assay kit and an ELISA plate reader).


Well acquainted with the microplate Alamar Blue Assay (MABA) and the BACTEC 460 system (radiorespirometric assay) for primary and secondary (determination of Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations) drug screenings versus M. tuberculosis H37 Rv.


Mastered cell culture techniques for the following cell lines: - Human Embryonic Lung (HEL) Fibroblasts - Smooth Muscle Cells of the Aorta (HA-VSMC) - Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC) - Human Small Intestinal Epithelial Cells (FHs 74 Int) - Undifferentiated Glioblastoma Cell Lines A172 and T98G - Astrocytoma/Glioblastoma Cell Line: Hs683 - THP-1 Monocytes/Macrophages - Fresh blood derived monocytes/lymphocytes



Performed isolation of lymphocytes and monocytes from whole blood and differentiation of monocytes to macrophages.



Well acquainted with virus work, spectrophotometeric protein analysis, SDS-PAGE polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, western blot analysis and immunofluorescence technique.

One among 75 outstanding students (whose poster presentations were accepted) invited for an Oral Presentation at a Special Student Session at the ASM 98th General Meeting held May 7-12, 1998, Atlanta, GA.



Selected from more than 200,000 examinees (who tested at recent International Test of English as a Foreign Language - TOEFL administrations) to participate in a Pilot Study - pilot administration of the new computerized test questions for TOEFL - November 24th,1997.
